October

Well the best cosplaying month has arrived! Not only is the London MCM this month but also Halloween, the biggest worldwide cosplay event!

For Halloween I'm dressing as a witch, well sort of. I've not made any part of my costume as I haven't had a lot of time recently. From The Range, I bought a "Mistress" costume, a long black and red dress with lace layers on the bottom and sleeves. It's very good quality for only £10 and comes in a range of ages. I also bought a black witch hat with gold spiderwebs up the side.

To match the dress, and due to the length, I'm going to wear a pair of Iron Fist Ruff Rider shoes in red. One o my favourite pairs of shoes.

I can't wait for Halloween this year, I'm just a big kid at heart =)

Cosplay Update

With a lot of things going off in my personal life, what with my driving test and so getting my car on the road, I have not had the time or the money to be able to put anything towards my cosplays. I have bought a couple of online patterns to use as a base for my Ada cosplay but that's about it really. I have also found a website that does character specific wigs where I could get an Ada wig for $66 or about £45 so I am going to save up towards getting one, rather than my usual just spending the money when I get it seeing as i now need to pay for a car.

I have had a lot of thoughts on who I would like to cosplay as but its not just the time and money it's also when do I wear my cosplays. I have got a costume I am putting together for my boyfriend of Little Red Riding Hood, and I mean me wearing the costume for him not for him to wear if you know what I mean.

One I really would love to cosplay as in the very far future, I would love to cosplay as Belle from Beauty and the Beast, whether it be her blue outfit or the yellow dress. That cosplay for now is just a dream in the distant future =(

Hell, I'll even cosplay as the one below right if I have to =) Artwork is by J. Scott Campbell, and I love this picture!

A change of Plan

Well after being so excited for my Sally Jupiter cosplay plans I have descided that when I go to the Birmingham MCM in Novemeber I am not going as her. I really want to do the cosplay but in November? I must be nuts. My partner going as the Comedian is okay, he'll be 95% covered up, I wont be.

So a quick change of plan and plently of time to sort it. I'm going as Ada Wong and he's going as Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 4 to celebrate the new movie thats coming out in September with them in it and the release of Resident Evil 6 in October. Although Metal Gear Solid is my favourite game series, I have to admit that, for a very sueamish girl, Resident Evil is not far behind.
Ada Wong, see those flowers! That'll be fun to do

I'm going to take an idea from a fellow cosplayer and once I've made Ada's dress, I am going to paint the flower design on her dress, then stitch them over the top. Makes life so much easier me thinks. The hardest part is finding the perfect wig, and if not getting a short one and styling it, so I think I need to nvest in a proper wig stand, then I'll finsh my sally wig for whenever I want it.

Leon in his Mafia outfit

My partner is going to just grow his hair longer as it's already a leonish colour, i just need to put together his costume, he wants to go as the Mafia version from Resi Evil 4, thank goodness as that means there's less hassle trying to get gun holsters and straps here there and everywhere sorted to make it look good. All I need is a leg holster and be brave abotu having a slit up that high in my skirt.

Sounds like it will be a fun day, I might consider going to the London MCM for the day next year to show off my Sally Jupiter cosplay, fingers crossed it will be as warm then as it is at the moment, phew its hot. I hope everyone at the London MCM this weekend has had a brilliant time!

So, there's my next mission, I keep having ideas and not finishing them, I need to be more consistant! =)

Happy Cosplaying.

The Comedian

Well, for my Sally Jupiter cosplay, I have a brilliant accessory to go with it, The Comedian!
My partner has agreed to going to my next expo with me and as The Comedian. I wanted him to go with me for 'protection' seeing as I would be walking around nearly naked, yea, I thought best to take a man with me and who better than my own partner. He gets to make sure I'm okay and get an eyefull at the same time.

We've had a few ideas for it already, even though we only agreed to it yesterday. We have a green boiler suit that we are going to see if we bleach it if it will go green, and if not then try and bleach it enough to dye it yellow. It's a long shot but at least we didn't pay for the boiler suit.

The hardest part I think will be the boots and the belt. He said he didn't want to walk around in wellies all day so there goes that idea (though I don't know why, walking round in wellies for the day can't be half as bad as the boots I'll be wearing!). The belt buckle, I will either have ti find one somewhere or if i really want accuracy I will have to make one.

For Sally, I think I have found a pair of boots almost spot on for hers, the only difference is the lace holes and hooks, she has hooks at the top, the ones I found have got about 5 lace holes up and then hooks all the way up. Apart from that they are spot on, and so much easier to get on and about £70 cheaper than the ones I was going to get, even better =)

I am thinking about going to the next Birmingham MCM as her, which i think will be 24-25 November... which means I will be so cold dressed as her but it will be worth it. Lets hope for a sunny November... and central heating!

My Little Pony Madness

Is it just me or has My Little Pony suddenly become popular again but with a whole different crowd? Now I am no expert at all in My Little Pony, I know there's one called Rainbow Dash and that'd about it really.

When I was younger I had a few of the ponies but I wasn't that fussed, thinking about it they were probably hand me downs from my sister, I didn't watch the show or anything, just played with the toys. That was about 15 years ago yet suddenly it has jumped back again and become really popular.

Amongst some of my cosplay and anime friends, they are going mad over it. There's pictures, cosplays, own creations. It's mad really, but before I go any further I'm just gonna say that there is nothing wrong with going MLP mad, saying that because it's the truth and I don't want to get eaten by my friends.

I suppose, as I have no real interest in it, it's quite cool to sit on the side line and watch how everyone has changed. A few years back I didn't give MLP a second thought but the popularity of it has shot back up beyond belief.

I have seen Rainbow dash cosplayed a lot, some people ever dying their har rainbow colours instead of wearing a wig, which looked amazing, btu I saw one at the Birmingham MCM Expo where I saw a full grown, and quite large, man walking around dressed up as him. It was quite comical to look at but i couldn't believe it when I saw it. He is either a closet MLP fan, got dared by a friend or had his daughter come up to him, tears in her eyes, and plea with him to dress up at him.

As for own character making, I have seen a lot of these before but now for MLP. I've seen a lot of Richu's and Pikachu's being designed on Deviant Art but MLP is a new one really.

For example, here are Lilacmist (above) and Silvermist (left). These two Ponies were created by Cutetoboewolf  (check her account out, she's a brilliant wolf artist!) on DeviantArt using Pony Creator. Pony Creator is a flash game featured on Deviantart. It allows people to design their on my little ponies with ease, without the need to be good at art.Pony Creatoe helps to create 'realisitic' looking MLP at the same time as making them personal to the artist. It's a fun way to add a little extra My Little Pony to someone's life.

So really, when it comes down to ir, My Little Pony is not just a children's programme, it's an art!

Cosplaying and Me

I thought I would start another blog abour cosplaying rather than just general stuff in my life like my other. The main thing is though, I am not the best cosplayer in the world. I'm not one of these people that spend hours and hours getting everything spot on down to the underwear and I don't mind admitting to it. Yes I wow and coo over these cosplays and the cosplayers btu I am not one of them, no where near their league as a lot of people are.

I do like cosplaying and who wouldn't in my opinion. Who doesn't want to run around dressed up whether it be publically or privately. It's just a bit of fun.

Now I ain't the most skilled cosplayer or have many costumes under my belt but I do try and I like to try and suggest to others ideas when they are stuck for what to do. I do read some Anime and Manga but really I am more of a game and Comic cosplayer or rather I would like to be.

I will get round to doing mroe cosplaying, I have been to my first convention now at Birmingham MCM and loved it so I'm considering what to wear to the next one but it depends on who I am with.

If I'm with my partner, I'm thinking Silk Spectre from Watchmen or Eva from Metal Gear Solid 3 but if it is my sister, then I'm leaning more towards Wonder Woman or something a bit mroe Girl Power! =D

Here's Eva from Metal Gear Solid 3. The main challenges in this cosplay is finding a boilersuit or whatever you want to call it in that colour for a decent price and having the confidence to walk around wth my bra on show for the day.
Wonder Woman, a simple yet effective costume. I don't know why I have chosen the one where Ia m closer to be naked for going round with my sister than I have with my partner but it's a fun cosplay and as I said, Girl power! =)
And here is the Silk Spectre or Sally Jupiter from Watchmen. I love her outfit so much and have already started on this cosplay. I've got the wig and everything it's just a matter of making the dress and styling the wig, then there's just other little bits and bobs to go with it.

I do hope to one day get on with my cosplaying and make my skills better.

Will post more of my cosplaying adventures soon =)
